spring things and update

I really haven't been in the mood to blog, but I think it's about time to get some of these photos up and give an update.

I planted 100 red tulip bulbs in the front under our windows last Fall. This was my first experience with bulbs of any type and it was very successful and relatively little work when you consider the beautiful display we got popping up this Spring! I will definitely plant tulips again.

Spring means soccer! Pete and his teammates came up with the name "Blue Dinosaurs."

We had a preschool Easter Party at our house the Friday before Easter. We dyed eggs and then had an egg roll. We also decorated sugar cookies and made edible birds' nests.

Ready. Set. Go.
Jack with his egg. Notice Ben doing a swing-flip (this seems to be Jack's and Ben's preferred swinging method).

Spring also means tornado season in Tennessee. Here are a couple of photos taken March 28, 2009. A fierce storm had just passed and the lighting was beautiful, so Wade had us pose on the balcony for some photos. We spent the 30 minutes just before this photo was taken hiding out in the basement under a tornado warning. Jack (left), Ben (right)

day 8 without...

Cadbury Mini Eggs
syrup on my waffles
jelly on my toast
candy
cookies
pastries
donuts
chocolate
sugar on my cereal
robin eggs
peanut butter eggs
coconut creme eggs
did I mention Cadbury mini-eggs?

I'm currently abstaining in an attempt to do my body some good, and it turn's out it's not that hard to avoid eating sweets when you just don't buy 'em or make them! (Note: The list above is not comprehensive, it just happens to be all things that sound delicious to me right now.)

last night at 10:30pm

Not to be confused with last night at 12:30 am, when neither one was in ANY bed. They were both awake until about 4 am. We were ALL awake until 4 am.

march fourth

2005:
"I think that you should back up your photos, I am not sure that we
have done it. You can never be too careful. I have to say that yoplat
yogurt is way better than the other stuff. anyway love you"
Wade

Thanks dear. 4 years later I did not follow his advice and we have lost 9 months worth of photos from a hard drive crash.

And, I agree that Yoplait is worth the extra few cents!

love day: updated

(This is the full video!)

At our ward V-day dance, Pete was rejected by a few girls before little miss C here finally consented. Pete asked just about every girl he could find to dance and seemed to REALLY be enjoying himself. You can also see Ben dancing in this video. Both Ben and Jack enjoyed the chance to show off their sweet moves!

a pickle alien...

...is a person who ate too many pickles and turned into an alien.

Just in case you were wondering.

Good Night. Don't let the pickle alien's bite.

bluegrass underground

Bluegrass Underground puts on a bluegrass show in Cumberland Caverns, near McMinnville, TN once a month at this time of year. We went on Saturday to see two groups called Cadillac Sky and The Farewell Drifters. Both of them were amazingly talented and put on a great show! I had never been to a bluegrass concert or heard of either of these groups before tonight, but I was seriously impressed and would love to see either of them again. Cadillac Sky especially put on a very entertaining show. I would also highly recommend the Bluegrass Underground venue. It was an awesome place on it's own, even without the great music, and we had a lot of fun on our all day trip without the kids. :) Thanks to the McNiven's and the 10aCUtes for making the trip possible and to Wade's boss for inviting us.

Standing just above the concert area.

Looking down into the concert stage and seating area as we walked down into the cave.

The Farewell Drifters opening for Cadillac Sky.

After the concert, leaving the cave. With Wade's boss, his wife and some of Wade's fellow post-docs in the lab.
