love day: updated
(This is the full video!)
At our ward V-day dance, Pete was rejected by a few girls before little miss C here finally consented. Pete asked just about every girl he could find to dance and seemed to REALLY be enjoying himself. You can also see Ben dancing in this video. Both Ben and Jack enjoyed the chance to show off their sweet moves!

...is a person who ate too many pickles and turned into an alien.
Just in case you were wondering.
Good Night. Don't let the pickle alien's bite.

bluegrass underground
Bluegrass Underground puts on a bluegrass show in Cumberland Caverns, near McMinnville, TN once a month at this time of year. We went on Saturday to see two groups called Cadillac Sky and The Farewell Drifters. Both of them were amazingly talented and put on a great show! I had never been to a bluegrass concert or heard of either of these groups before tonight, but I was seriously impressed and would love to see either of them again. Cadillac Sky especially put on a very entertaining show. I would also highly recommend the Bluegrass Underground venue. It was an awesome place on it's own, even without the great music, and we had a lot of fun on our all day trip without the kids. :) Thanks to the McNiven's and the 10aCUtes for making the trip possible and to Wade's boss for inviting us.
Standing just above the concert area.
Looking down into the concert stage and seating area as we walked down into the cave.
The Farewell Drifters opening for Cadillac Sky.
After the concert, leaving the cave. With Wade's boss, his wife and some of Wade's fellow post-docs in the lab.

a boy and his rocket shooter alien
A plug for Tinkertoys (we like the plastic ones shown here since they don't have small, choking hazard pieces). Gma and Gpa V. got these for our guys a year ago on Christmas. Rarely a day has gone by that they have not been utilized to build rockets, cannon-shooters, guns (do you see a pattern here?), aliens, swings, lawn mowers (aka: pushies), etc.Saturday, January 24, 2009
pete, the dragon-fighting prince
Dragon: 0
Pete was actually invited to a "Princess and dragon fighting Prince Party." When I told him about it, he was REALLY excited and insisted that we needed to make him a costume immediatly (even though the party wasn't for 5 days). When I asked him what sort of costume he thought a dragon fighting Prince would wear, he replied, "A beautiful dress?" Although it was a good thought, we ended up settling on some of his Sunday clothes with a homemade crown, toy sword, and batman cape. He refused to wear the crown and cape after the photo, so he really just looked like a well-dressed prince at the birthday party.
Pete has been watching me while I type this and has requested that I write his story. Here ya go (I typed it exactly as Pete dictated it, including the name at the end. Be warned it is rated PG for some mild graphic dragon chopping):
Once upon a time there was a Prince. His name was Pete and he fighted a dragon and he saw a dragon, he saw a tail. He asked his friends, "Could that really be a dragon?" They couldn't know if it was a dragon so they went behind that wall and they saw a dragon and then it was a real one and they chopped it open.
