anniversary sunday

Our 13th anniversary started off with a sick Ben.  Jack spent most of last week sick, and apparently passed it on to Ben.  So, Dad took Pete and Jack for a hike in the Superstitions while I stayed to cuddle Ben.  As soon as the well boys returned, they were hungry for lunch.  After a small melt-down from Peter about wanting M&M's, I finally told him he must eat lunch first and asked what kind of sandwich he would like to eat.  He grumpily replied, "An M&M sandwich."  I told him that I would absolutely make him a peanut butter and m&m sandwich if he wanted one.  It took a minute for his pouting to stop and him to agree, but then, viola...

Later, Pete left a special note on our bed for our anniversary.  He was missing for several minutes.  Then he came out and trick/surprised us by saying that he heard a scary noise in our room and we had to see what the noise was.  Instead, we saw this...

It says "happy anivarsary love doves"
We opened it up to find an "anavirsary poum."

It is titled "Come and Kiss," and goes like this:

"Come and Kiss"

hurry, hurry come and kiss
there's a long day tomorrow
so kiss and come
it's your anniversary
13 years you've come, so
come and kiss

Seriously couldn't have asked for a better gift from my 8-year-old boy!
He is such a sweet little guy and I'm always surprised at his tenderness.

Since we didn't take our sick family to church, we had plenty of time to just relax. We had a family Mario Kart challenge, grilled steaks and hamburgers, planted some flowers in their pots (my anniversary gift from Wade), watched cartoons, played a family game of Scrabble (in which Jack won with a score of 100!). And to top it all off, Ben seemed to be doing better and didn't throw up all day. A nice, relaxing anniversary Sunday.
